Exploring and Learning Through Nature and Inquiry

Finishing Up My Inquiry

Truck update

Well, it’s just about the end of the term. I can’t believe just how fast it went by! It feels like just a couple weeks ago I was deciding which topic to choose for this free inquiry project.

I have learned so much about off-roading in the past 3 months. I have been very fortunate to be able to go on a bunch of little adventures and spend time in the outdoors with my partner. I’ve been able to research a lot about what off-roading really is, and everything there is to know about reading maps, or what to take on a trip, or how an engine works!

Our truck is still under repairs right now, swapping the engine as I mentioned in my previous inquiry post. I’m so excited for when it is ready, which should be soon! There are only a few more minor details to work out, but it’s just about done.

Working on the new engine

I’m really excited for the winter, because I’ve heard that it is supposed to snow a lot on the island this year. Off-roading in the snow can be a little scary, but it’s so much fun! My hope is that I will be able to drive the truck around a bit and get a good feel for driving in the snow with a 4 wheel drive vehicle. My own car is just a little front wheel drive, so I often don’t get the opportunity to practice winter driving conditions, as I tend to not use my car as much in the snow.

Planning for next week

I’m very excited for my inquiry post for next week. I’ve been working on making a little video montage of all the adventures my partner and I have taken in the last few years. I decided to make this video my last post, as I think it’s been the most fun thing to work on during my inquiry, and I always like saving the best for last!

Here’s a little sneak peek!

So far, it’s taken me around 2 hours of editing, and it’s just about done. I plan to spend another hour of editing some time this week, and get the finished product uploaded to my YouTube channel and in to my next post. It’s looking so good! I’m super proud of what I’ve done so far. And yes, I am incorporating some drone footage! It’s definitely not at a professional level, but it adds some great cinematic effect.

I can’t wait to finish up the video, it’s going to look pretty good (if I do say so myself), and I’ve had such a fun time reminiscing on some old memories, and practicing my editing skills. I really like editing video’s and photos, as well as slideshows and such to make them aesthetically pleasing. Stay tuned for my last post!
